Gerald Tommaso DeLouise (born April 30, 1940), known professionally as Burt Young, is an American actor, author and painter. Played Rocky Balboa’s brother-in-law and best friend Paulie Pennino in the Rocky film series. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the first film.

He has also appeared in Chinatown (1974), The Gambler (1974), The Killer Elite (1975), Convoy (1978), Uncle Joe Shannon (1978), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), A Summer to Remember (1985), Back to School (1986), Last Exit to Brooklyn (1990), Mickey Blue Eyes (1999), Transamerica (2005), Win Win (2011), Bottom of the 9th (2019), Beckman (2020) and the documentary film Stallone: Frank, That Is (2021) and had a guest appearance on The Sopranos in 2001.

Additionally, Burt Young signed memorabilia served a tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. While in the Marine Corps, he won 32 of 34 boxing bouts. He later became a professional boxer and compiled a 17–0 record under three aliases. His manager was Cus D’Amato.

Furthermore, Burt Young autographs made his name playing rough-edged working class Italian-American characters, the best-known example being his signature role as Rocky Balboa’s friend (and future brother-in-law) Paulie in Rocky (1976), for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He is one of four actors (the other three being Sylvester Stallone; Stu Nahan and Tony Burton) who have appeared in all of the first six Rocky films (although Talia Shire, who appears in the first five films, makes a flashback appearance in the sixth). Young did not reprise his role in the 2015 film Creed; the character described as having died in 2012.

Young has also appeared in many television programs, including The Rockford Files, Baretta, Law & Order, Walker, Texas Ranger, M*A*S*H. He guest-starred in a Miami Vice episode, and made an appearance on The Sopranos (“Another Toothpick”) as Bobby Baccalieri’s father, who is dying of cancer and comes out of retirement to execute a hit on his godson, “Mustang Sally” Intile, as punishment for Intile having brutally beaten a family friend simply for chatting with Intile’s girlfriend.

In a nod to his having served in the U.S. Marine Corps, he played a retired drill instructor in the short-lived 1987 ABC series, Roomies; where his character decides to go to college after his retirement.

Paul John Gascoigne (born 27 May 1967) is an English former professional football player and manager. Also known by his nickname, Gazza. An attacking midfielder, he earned 57 caps in his England career and is widely recognised as the most naturally talented English footballer of his generation.

Born and raised in Gateshead, Gascoigne signed schoolboy terms with Newcastle United autographed memorabilia, before turning professional with the club in 1985. Three years later, sold to Tottenham Hotspur for £2.2 million. Won the FA Cup with Spurs in 1991, before sold to Italian club Lazio for £5.5 million. In 1995, he transferred to Rangers memorabilia for £4.3 million and helped the club to two league titles and two trophies. He returned to England in a £3.4 million move to Middlesbrough in 1998. Making his debut in the Premier League in the 1998–99 season; already featured in the 1998 Football League Cup Final. He switched to Everton in 2000, and later had spells with Burnley, Gansu Tianma, and Boston United.

William McClure Johnston (born 19 December 1946) a retired Scottish professional footballer best known for his tenure with Rangers and West Bromwich Albion. He made 22 international games for Scotland and was named to the 1978 FIFA World Cup squad, but he was sent home after failing a drugs test.

Born in Glasgow but raised in Fife, Johnston began his career at local junior team Lochore Welfare. As well as signing schoolboy papers with Rangers. He made his full-time debut against St Johnstone in the Scottish League Cup on August 29, 1964; at 17 years old. Following the injury of established outside left Davie Wilson, Johnston was picked in the side for the competition final two months later and collected his first winner’s medal after a 2–1 Old Firm triumph over Celtic autographs. One of the team’s major players, fellow Fife native Jim Baxter, became his friend.

 

Rangers and Celtic shared a cup triumph the following season. Each defeating the other in the final. Celtic avenged themselves in the League Cup before Rangers won the 1965–66 Scottish Cup 1–0 in a replay; with Wilson playing inside left in the games to accommodate both him and Johnston in the lineup. Johnston had made his Scotland debut ten days before the League Cup Final; against Poland, in a World Cup qualifying match when he was just 18 years old; the match ended in disappointment with a 2–1 home defeat, with the opponents scoring both goals in the final five minutes.

Celtic won the 1966 Scottish League Cup Final by a score of 1–0 against the same opponents. Johnston also suffered a broken ankle in a shock Scottish Cup defeat to Berwick Rangers. January 1967, but he healed in time for the European Cup Winners’ Cup Final on May 31, in which Rangers lost 1–0 to Bayern Munich.

 

Johnston’s personal output over the next three seasons. An amazing 65 goals from 137 games (along with four caps for Scotland); but only managed one minor Glasgow Cup title during that time. Celtic had beginning an era of dominance at the time; and in the 1969 Scottish Cup Final, they defeated Rangers 4–0. Less than a month after Johnston had scored a hat-trick against them in a cup encounter at Celtic Park. Further heartbreak came when the team was knocked out of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup finals twice by English opponents; both of whom went on to win the cup (Leeds United in 1968 and Newcastle United in 1969). Due to his ban, Johnston was unable to play in the first leg against Newcastle.

Celtic’s dominance in the Scottish league lasted far into the 1970s; and Johnston’s time at Ibrox ended without a championship medal. Rangers won the 1970 Scottish League Cup Final 1–0 over their familiar opponents. Equally with Johnston supplying the winning cross, although manager Willie Waddell fined him for showboating (sitting on the ball). He claimed caused the team humiliation. Celtic won the 1970–71 Scottish Cup final following a replay. Which was yet another Old Firm match. Rangers had also suffered a big off-field tragedy that year, with 66 fans killed in a stadium accident.

 

Rangers defeated Dynamo Moscow 3–2 in the European Cup-Winners’ Cup final in Barcelona in 1971–72; with Johnston scoring twice. As formations changed, he was frequently playing as a striker with Colin Stein (the other goal scorer in the final).

Graeme Souness is a legendary Scottish footballer and manager who had great success both as a player and manager. Early Life and Career

Graeme Souness, born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1953. He grew up supporting local club Heart of Midlothian but began his career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1972. After just one season at Spurs he moved to Middlesbrough where he established himself as a regular in midfield. Souness helped Middlesbrough gain promotion to the English First Division in 1974.

 

 

 

 

 

Move to Liverpool

In 1978, Souness signed by Liverpool for a record British transfer fee at the time of £350,000. He was brought in to replace veteran Ian Callaghan in midfield. Souness quickly became an integral part of the great Liverpool teams of the late 70s and early 80s. He added steel and determination to the midfield and complemented the skill and flair of players like Kenny Dalglish.

Souness reached the pinnacle of his club career when he captained Liverpool to victory in the 1981 European Cup final against Real Madrid.
